Come see the Montreal Impact play soccer…blindfolded! Montreal (QC)- Canada - May 20th, 2003 June 3rd, 7 p.m. at Claude Robillard Sports Complex is when the Montreal Impact will play against The Visionnaires, a team of visually impaired players and athletes. The Impact will be wearing glasses which have been altered to reduce their vision. This sporting event, Vision Extrême, is a first and a fund-raiser for the benefit of the Québec Foundation for the Blind and the Sporting Association for the Blind. This North American première soccer match will be played in two 25 minute periods. Which team will win the match? Vision Extrêmepromises to be exciting. The Visionnaires team is made up of 17 players who have limited vision, of which six are athletes who participated in various disciplines at the paralympic games in Sydney, Barcelona and Atlanta. The first 1500 people to pass the gates at Claude Robillard Sports Complex on June 3rd, will receive a free ticket for the Impact’s game of June 13th. There will be prizes, including a YMCA yearly membership as well as a week-end BMW rental. The members of the organizing committee of Vision Extrême firmly believe that the determination and energy of an entrepreneur are qualities commonly shared with the visually impaired person. This group of business people decided to get involved with this particular cause, visual deficiency, since they believe “being unstoppable” is what it takes to overcome its barriers.
